The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Communications,
Public Relations and/or Public Affairs. A Bachelor's degree is required,
as well as at least 8 years of communications and/or Public Affairs
experience. Knowledge of core industrial markets (oil and gas, power,
chemical, water and general industry) as well as multi-national
(specifically Latin America) company experience preferred.
Individuals must possess excellent communications (verbal and written)
and organizational skills, media relations experience, strong editing
and proofing skills and the ability to prioritize and function
efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. A professional
demeanor and the ability to interact comfortably with individuals at all
levels of business are both essential qualities. A strong writing
background and translation capability is necessary. Knowledge of
Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with U.S. and Latin America leadership teams and the
global communications team (U.S.) to develop strategies and tactics that
will provide Flowserve with positive exposure to key stakeholders within
the U.S. and Latin America regions.
- Develop, implement and lead the Americas PR strategy including
in-country branding, community, media, government and industry
relations.
- Manage agency relationships with respect to press releases, media
interviews, press tours and corporate and trade press requests and
interviews.
- Oversee corporate image and branding programs through media
monitoring, public and employee feedback, voice of the customer data and
other measurement mechanisms.
- Display excellent understanding of brand localization, as well as
image and reputation management.
- Manage and coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts
throughout the assigned regions.
- Assist in crisis response and act as a communications consultant to
the leadership teams in Latin America and the U.S.
- Define innovative communications strategies for new product and
service introductions and industry events.
- Collaborate with Flowserve marketing communications managers,
leadership and sales teams to manage and create compelling trade show
media opportunities and other critical customer interactions that
illustrate the functionality and key benefits of Flowserve's products
and services.
- Develop written materials, including messaging guidelines, press
releases, Q&A's, presentations and speeches, etc.
- Represent Flowserve as a company spokesperson for a wide variety of
external events.
- The role reports to the vice president of global communications and
public affairs.
Requirements
- Understanding of the public affairs opportunities within the U.S.
and Latin America.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree; post-graduate or professional degrees
preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years professional experience in fast-paced business
environment.
- Experience in public speaking and media interviews.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and
Spanish.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix reporting environment.
- Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully.
