Telecommunications Technician | Intrawest | Snowshoe, WV
JOB PURPOSE
Optimizes use of telecommunications assets (PBXs, telephones, ACD,
voicemail) by planning, installing and maintaining and managing
telecommunications hardware and software.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential job result satisfactorily. The employee is responsible
for the following "job results".
Ensures 24x7 operation of telephone system
By
- Planning and installing fail-safe systems,
- Applying software patches and hardware upgrades to PBXs,
- Monitoring condition of hardware and UPS,
- Monitoring condition of telco-supplied circuits.
Maximizes contribution margin
By
- Analyzing telco bills for errors and fraud,
- Provisioning trunking to meet demand,
- Maintaining least-cost call routing tables,
- Applying rate-table updates,
- Advising management of cost-saving opportunities,
- Monitoring room charges,
- Preparing billings for outside parties.
Optimizes call center operations,
By
- Configuring ACD dispatch, ACD reporting and voice-mail systems,
- Advising Reservations Manager on ACD configuration and queue management,
- Provisioning trunking.
Provides service to end-users
By
- Performing moves, adds and changes in PBX software,
- Installing premises equipment,
- Maintaining pick-up and hunt groups,
- Maintaining voice mail software,
- Maintaining user accounts and billing information.
Provides service to new locations
By
- Planning copper and fiber outside plant, entrance facilities and wiring
closets,
- Specifying, selecting and ordering components,
- Pulling and terminating copper and fiber optic cables,
- Installing peripheral nodes and back up power supplies,
- Wiring cross-connects,
- Installing station-side cable,
- Configuring and installing telephones,
- Configuring PBX software and installing upgrades.
Resolves trunking problems
By
- Reporting problems and cooperating with Local Exchange Carrier personnel
in troubleshooting and repair.
Contributes To Team Effort
By
- Accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
The knowledge, skill and ability an incumbent must have in order to
accomplish the job results and to perform the job duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 2 year technical in electronics
Prior Experience
Specific Experience: installing and programming 1000+ port PBX systems.
Outside plant design and installation including fiber optics.
Length of Experience: 2 years
Specific Certifications, Licenses Required:
Mitel Installer Certification or equivalent certification for a similar
product.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
GENERAL LANGUAGE & REASONING ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating
and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to
comprehend and apply highly technical documentation.
Must be able to understand local and long distance tariffs and service
offerings as they apply to the resort.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and
ability to adjust focus. The incumbent is required to be mentally alert
while performing this job.
