Responsibilities
- Conducts sites surveys; assesses and documents current site network configuration and user requirements.
- Analyzes existing requirements and prepares specifications for hardware acquisitions.
- Prepares engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages.
- Develops hardware installation schedules.
- Prepares drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
- Prepares site installation and test reports.
- Configures computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment.
- Installs network hardware.
- Trains site personnel in proper use of hardware.
- Builds specialized interconnecting cables.
- Depth perception; Light lifting, under 15 pounds; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Use of fingers
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in related technical discipline from an accredited school and follow on training in network management procedures.
- Entry with a high school diploma including vo-tech experience, or 1 year of experience, or an Associate's degee.
- High school curriculum including vocational training in electronics, computer, drafting, engineering, networking.
- Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, A+, CAD, HI-REL, Cisco Certified Networking Technician (CCENT) or Cisco Certifies Network Associate
- Certifications from post high school training program in relevant field, including military formal training, professional training programs (e.g., ITT, Lincoln Tech, DeVry).
- Degree should be in Engineering or Engineering Technology related field.
- Academic / practical experience in information technology hardware maintenance background, with emphasis on computer and network hardware support.
- Knowledge of cabling, routers, telephony, communications equipments, Ethernet cabling and network protocols (TCP/IP), patch panels, fiber optic cabling and testing, troubleshooting and security procedures is required
- Working knowledge of the functions and capabilities of network interfaces and proper configuration of router with appropriate modules
- Demonstrated ability to apply the concepts and commands required to install, configure and troubleshoot communications equipments in multi-protocol networks in a global WAN environment with centralized network control
- Ability to liaison with local, deployed, and CONUS engineering departments and DoD work centers in an effort to maintain immediate response to critical requirements resulting from analysis of current specification data on assigned systems
- Fluent in the English Language
