Network Maintenance Specialist | National Security Agency | Honolulu, Hawaii
Responsibilities
- Analyze system functions and failures to isolate and define problem areas.
- Monitor the reachability of all connections within the network adhering to circuit restoration priorities and initiate troubleshooting to restore full network capability.
- Monitor system performance and track usage
- Develop and deliver a trend analysis of system load, usage and response
- Provide on-site and telephonic technical services necessary to insure the continuing operation and optimization of the network
- Perform diagnostic analysis of the network system, identify possible faulty devices, troubleshoot faulty modules, troubleshoot network problems and outages and prepare necessary documentation detailing actions taken
- Immediately deployable to worldwide locations, in potentially hazardous work environments, to perform quick reaction technical support to U.S. forces
- Design, integration, testing, installation, and support of the information technology infrastructure
- Able to work on a team with diverse technical skills to deliver LAN, WAN, Storage Systems, Enterprise Management, and Information Assurance services.
- Provide on-going support while balancing and managing resources.
Qualifications
- Entry is with a High School degree and 4 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree.
- Associate's degree in networking or technical area or B.S. in engineering, computer science, networking or another technical area is preferred.
- Related experience in installation or maintenance tasks.
- Experience using specialized test equipment and analysis tools (e.g., network management systems, data analyzers, BERTS, OTDR, etc.)
- One of the following certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Engineer
- Cisco Certified Network Associate
- At least two years experience in a network management, with emphasis on network support.
- Extensive knowledge of digital routers, bridging functions, communication servers, Ethernet network protocols (TCP/IP), patch panels, IP addressing and subnetting, system security procedures, and Government networks including DSNET 1 and DSNET 3 is required
- Working knowledge of the functions and capabilities of network interfaces and proper configuration of router with appropriate modules
- Demonstrated ability to apply the concepts and commands required to install, configure and troubleshoot CISCO routers in multi-protocol inter networks (U.S. Government networks) in a global WAN environment with centralized network control
- Ability to liaison with local, deployed, and CONUS engineering departments and DoD work centers in an effort to maintain immediate response to critical requirements resulting from analysis of current specification data on assigned systems
- Fluent in the English Language
